Booked my expedition with Borneo Overland just hoping to spot elephants and try my hand at overland driving and tent camping. Came home with so much more — a full heart, a ridiculous photo gallery, and memories I didn’t expect.

Somewhere between being a passenger princess and a mild terror behind the wheel, I ended up hiking through jungles, spotting the rare Rafflesia, experiencing raw, local living, catching unreal views, and trekking through routes I never thought I’d do.

The crew? Incredible. They had everything handled — meals (all I had to do was show up like a spoiled princess and eat), the driving (I got to decide when I wanted to take the wheel or just kick back), activities (from nature trails and animal sightings to local markets and hidden gems), and even the accommodation setups (my only job was to get cozy in the tents they had all ready for me). The trip struck a great balance between wild camping and comfy hotel/guesthouse stays.

Special thanks to Gregory, Denny, and Gelvin — I know I was really lucky to be the only guest on the trip, but I basically had three amazing guys watching out for me. Felt safe, looked after, and just free to enjoy every moment.
